GILSONS
Gilsons
The reinterpretation of „Várias Queixas,“ the first single released by Gilsons, already hinted at the potential of where this group could go. From the start, there was a freshness with the flavor of Bahia and a light, authentic, special sound. The track has already garnered about 150 million plays on Spotify alone and lent its name to the band’s first EP formed by Francisco Gil, João Gil, and José Gil, who were already starting to make a name for themselves in the contemporary Brazilian music scene.
From that EP „Love, Love,“ another hit by the band that has accumulated astronomical numbers on digital platforms. Amid the pandemic, the trio seemed to handpick the right tracks to comfort their audience. In 2020, they released „Índia,“ in partnership with Júlia Mestre, „Devagarinho,“ with Mariana Volker, and „Besteira,“ with the duo Yoún. In 2022, t “Deixa fluir,” with the group Big Up, “Algum ritmo,” with Jovem Dionísio, and a remix of “Love Love” by Alok. In 2023, „Céu Rosé“ was a collaboration with the Minas Gerais-based band Lagum. On March 13, „Feito a Maré“ hit all digital platforms, a beautiful feature with Jota.pê.
Their first full album, „Pra Gente Acordar,“ helped firmly establish the trio’s name in Brazilian music and earned them nominations for the Latin Grammy, Prêmio Multishow, Prêmio da Música Brasileira (PMB), and the Faz Diferença Award from Jornal O Globo. These releases led the group to surpass 3 million monthly listeners on Spotify and proved that Gilsons know how to give MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) a fresh, contemporary pop vibe, all with a lot of care.
In addition to their digital success, Gilsons performed at some of the most important festivals in the country, such as Rock in Rio, Lollapalooza, Coala, Rock the Mountain… a total of 88 shows in 25 festivals. At the beginning of the year, during Carnival 2023, João, José, and Fran teamed up with Baiana System and Tropikilazz on the single „Presente.“ Now, in early May, the band released another collaboration, this time with Rachel Reis and Mulú, putting „BATEU“ on digital platforms, a single that racked up more than 150,000 plays in its first three days of release.
